SftTabs/NET 6.0

Distributing SftTabs/NET

Softel vdm, Inc.

This section describes the preferred distribution method when shipping SftTabs/NET with your application. This insures that your application can be safely installed and use SftTabs/NET even if another vendor has already installed his application which also uses SftTabs/NET.

Distribution of SftTabs/NET is limited to the run-time portion of the product.  Redistributable files are listed in the product license agreement.  No other files may be distributed.

Installing SftTabs/NET

When distributing SftTabs/NET with your application, only the following files can be distributed with your application royalty-free. These files allow the use of the control with your application. The design-time interface is no longer available once SftTabs/NET is shipped with your application. For additional information regarding distributing this control with your application, see the license agreement.

Required Files

The "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 (SP1) Redistributable Package (x86)" must be installed on any system where SftTabs/NET is used. It is included as a redistributable in the SftTabs/NET installation directory (\Program Files\Softelvdm\SftTabs NET 6.0\Redist\) and is also available directly from Microsoft.

Redistributable files are located in the SftTabs/NET installation directory (\Program Files\Softelvdm\SftTabs NET 6.0\Redist\).

These files must be shipped with your application if SftTabs/NET is used:

Registering SftTabs/NET

When distributing SftTabs/NET with your application, the SftTabs/NET assemblies can optionally be registered in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC).  This is not required. The Gacutil tool is used to register assemblies in the Global Assembly Cache. For more information about the Global Assembly Cache, please see the .NET Framework Developer's Guide.
